Bogalusa was rescued after hurricane
Katrina in 2005.  She is named for a
small town in Louisiana, the state
where "Momacat" grew up, so fostering
Bogalusa is a natural for Smarty Pets!

She had a rough go of it at first - was
very afraid and shy.  But thanks to
Treehouse's hard work, dedication and
love, she now tolerates a few soft pets
and ear scratches.

We will update this page as new info
comes in.   We also plan to visit with
her at her home and will post new
pictures as we get them.

When you use Smarty Pets for your
pet care needs, you help care for and
support Bogalusa and Treehouse's
no-kill shelter!

Thank you!
Bogalusa -- Smarty Pets' foster kitty from Treehouse Foundation
Bogalusa's Been Adopted!!

On June 17, 2008, we received a note from Treehouse Foundation that Bogalusa has been adopted.  (His info is
still below -- please scroll down).  We were so pleased and happy for him.   He spent 3 years in the FIV+ room at
Treehouse, and now he has a home of his own.

Our new foster kitty is Athena.  As soon as we have a picture of her and more news, we will post it here.   This is
what Treehouse has to say about Athena:

Athena is seven months old, and arrived in April after a woman found her behind some garbage cans.  She was
not using her rear legs and seemed to be in pain.  Turns out she has a fracture of the growth plate in the 13th
thoracic vertebral body with resultant luxation of the caudal spinal column (OK, now say that 3 times, really
fast!).  They say that means she dislocated and fractured part of her spine.

She underwent surgery and is in therapy at Treehouse.  She is not using her back legs yet, and needs her
bladder expressed manually each day.  But she tries to use her legs, and the folks at Treehouse remain hopeful
she will regain some use of her legs and use the litterbox on her own!

So, thank YOU!  Your continued support of Smarty Pets enabled us to offer support to Bogalusa in the past, and
now Athena!
